HARRISON, N.J. – The New York Red Bulls II announced the signing of Tim Schmoll for the 2016 USL season on Tuesday, as the former Red Bulls U-23 standout gets set for his first professional season.
A native of Switzerland, Schmoll attended Harvard University, where he made 61 appearances for the Crimson and started 40 matches. In four seasons with Harvard, he totaled 10 goals and six assists. As a senior, he was named All-Ivy Second Team and Ivy League honor roll in October. He also received NSCAA/Continental Tire Third Team All-Region and All-Ivy League First Team accolades as a junior.

Prior to his senior season, Schmoll joined the Red Bulls U-23 in the PDL, and played a key role as the side claimed the Eastern Conference Championship and advanced to the PDL Championship Game before falling to K-W United FC. Schmoll made 12 appearances for the Red Bulls U-23 in the regular season, and claimed PDL All-Eastern Conference honors.The 6-foot-6 defender/midfielder will join John Wolyniec’s side as it looks to build on a successful first season in the USL in 2015. The Red Bulls II finished fourth in the Eastern Conference, and advanced to the semifinals of the Eastern Conference Playoffs before being eliminated by eventual champion the Rochester Rhinos.
