BURNABY, B.C. – Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 battled to a 0-0 draw with Simon Fraser University as high winds and rain provided a tough backdrop to the preseason exhibition at SFU Fox Field.

Neither side created much in the way of chances in the first half, but WFC2 came close to taking the lead just before the break when Daniel Haber got in behind the Clan defense, only to squander the opportunity.

WFC2 goalkeeper Sean Melvin was called into action with 12 minutes to go as he smothered a low cross by SFU’s Mamadi Camara from the left, while defender Elliot Green provided a vital clearance late in the contest as Vancouver held on to secure the draw.

Vancouver will visit Seattle Sounders FC 2 in its next preseason contest on Wednesday as it continues to build toward its opening game of the USL regular season against Orange County Blues FC on Saturday, March 26.
