VANCOUVER, B.C. – Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 announced on Wednesday the signing of a pair of European defenders, as Elliot Green and Sem de Wit joined the club ahead of the 2016 USL season. Both signings are pending receipt of the players’ International Transfer Certificates.

“For young players, Elliot and Sem each already have more than 50 games of professional matches under their belt. That experience sets them up to be successful coming into our group,” said WFC2 Head Coach Alan Koch. “Elliot is skilled on the ball and has a good physical presence about him. Sem is a character guy who's very mobile and excellent in possession. We're excited to bring them into our team.”

Green arrives with WFC2 after spending the 2015 season with Swedish club Ange IF. Originally from England, the 6-foot-3 center back was a graduate of Stoke City FC’s Academy, prior to playing for Lincoln City in League 2. The 22-year-old made 81 appearances for the Imps over two seasons, and appeared in all 26 games for Ange IF last season in the Swedish Second Division.

Dutch defender de Wit previously played for Eredivisie side ADO Den Haag, after spending time in 2015 on loan with Dutch Eerste Divisie side Fortuna Sittard. A former member of the Netherlands U18 National Team, the 20-year-old fullback made 14 appearances for Fortuna on loan.
