Less than a year after making his professional debut in the USL for Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2, Tim Parker has been called into this January’s U.S. Men’s National Team Camp.

The 23-man group, which also includes a number of Parker’s fellow former PDL standouts, will convene on Sunday at StubHub Center in Carson, Calif., with games against Iceland (Jan. 31) and Canada (Feb. 5) scheduled to conclude the camp.

A former standout for the Long Island Rough Riders in the PDL, Parker made seven appearances for WFC2 in the club’s inaugural season in the USL. He made his MLS debut on May 2 as a substitute against the Portland Timbers, before making his first start for the Whitecaps a week later against the Philadelphia Union.

The 13th pick in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft, Parker finished the season with 15 appearances for the Whitecaps in the MLS regular season, and another two in the 2015 Audi MLS Playoffs. Parker also appeared for the club in the 2015-16 CONCACAF Champions League.

Parker is one of a group of players in the group who would also be eligible to compete for the U.S. U23 National Team, which faces Colombia in a playoff for a place at the 2016 Rio Olympics in March. Fellow PDL alumni in that group include former Sounders FC U23 forward Jordan Morris, Portland Timbers U-23s midfielder Fatai Alashe and defender Eric Miller, Lane United FC forward Khiry Shelton, and Chicago Fire U23 midfielders Matt Polster and Ethan Finlay.
