CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte Eagles return home on Monday night to take on Sacramento Republic FC. This will be the first meeting between the two teams in USL PRO history as it is Sacramento's first season as a USL PRO franchise.
In the Eagles' last game they traveled to South Carolina to face long-time rivals the Charleston Battery. In the game Saturday night the two teams played to a 0-0 draw, giving both teams one point in USL PRO standings. Charlotte goalkeeper Brock Duckworth stopped every shot he faced on Saturday as he recorded his third shutout of the season. The Eagles currently sit three points behind OKC Energy FC and the Wilmington Hammerheads, who currently hold the final two playoff positions in the league standings. A victory tonight would move the Eagles into a tie with both and provide a big boost to the club's playoff hopes.
Sacramento's last game resulted in a 2-1 loss to the Richmond Kickers, who are currently second in the USL PRO standings. Sacramento's sole goal came from Adam Jahn bringing his total to three goals on the season. Sacramento currently sits in fourth place in the USL PRO standings with a total of 29 points.
Appalachian State product Harrison Delbridge has started 13 games for Sacramento registering one assist.
The Eagles and Republic have never met in USL PRO history, as this is Sacramento's first season as a franchise, this match is the only time that the two teams will meet in the regular 2014 season.
