CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Charlotte Eagles (9-14-4, 31 pts) play their final regular season game this Saturday night at 7 p.m. ET against the Harrisburg City Islanders (9-11-7, 34 pts). Charlotte currently sits three points behind the City Islanders, who occupy the eighth and final playoff spot, making this match a must-win for Charlotte to have any shot at the playoffs.Harrisburg fell 2-1 to Charleston on Friday, which kept the Eagles slim playoff hopes alive. Harrisburg can wrap up a playoff spot with victory on Saturday night, while the Eagles need to take victory and for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds to fail to take victory on Saturday night against Arizona United SC, to jump past the City Islanders on the head-to-head tiebreaker.
The City Islanders are led in scoring this season by Morgan Langley with six goals and six assists, while Robbie Derschang has also scored six goals for Harrisburg.
In the previous match between these two teams Charlotte took a second-half lead thanks to a Fred Sekyere goal in the 57th minute. Harrisburg, however, equalized at the death as Coady Andrews' 90th-minute header found the back of the net to equalize for the hosts. Charlotte rebounded well from the draw as they went on to beat Rochester Rhinos the next day at Sahlen's Stadium 1-0.
In the Eagles last game they traveled to Montreal to face the Montreal Impact Reserves and fought to a 1-1 draw. Jorge Herrera was the lone scorer for the Eagles with a goal coming in the 10th minute, just five minutes after Montreal opened up the scoring. Herrera continues to pace the Eagles in scoring with nine goals and three assists. Zak Boggs picked up the assist on Herrera's goal against the Impact Reserves.
