TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa Roughnecks FC took a 3-2 victory against FC Wichita on Saturday night at ONEOK Field in its final preseason contest of the spring. Carlos Martinez and Kaleemullah both found the net to lead the Roughnecks.

The Roughnecks opened the game strongly, and Martinez struck in the 15th minute as he took possession in midfield, and then drove forward to the top of the penalty area before firing home a finish into the top-right corner of the net.

Tulsa continued to hold the upper hand for much of the half, a header by Matt Whatley was cleared off the line and Kaleemullah hit the post, but Wichita hit back just before the break as deflection off the referee came to Jacob Rangel at the top of the penalty area, and he finished into the corner of the net.

The Roughnecks regained the lead just before the hour-mark as Jasson Ramos Carpio set up Kaleemullah in front of goal, and the Pakistan National Team captain put home a simple finish. Ramos Carpio also played a key role in Tulsa’s third, as his cross from the left deflected off Wichita defender Chris Lemons and into the net for an own goal.

“He is a special talent, and I think the fans are really going to like the way he plays,” said Roughnecks Coach David Irving of Ramos Carpio.

Wichita again scored late in the half when Carlos Contreras found the net in the 89th minute, but the Roughnecks comfortably saw out the victory.

“I thought it was a great exercise for the week before we start the regular season,” said Irving. “The stuff we have been working on the past couple of weeks is starting to show up. It is just a little disappointing to give up a goal two minutes before halftime and two minutes before fulltime.”

The Roughnecks will host Rio Grande Valley FC in their home opener next Saturday at ONEOK Field.  Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.  CT.
