TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa Roughnecks FC announced its preseason schedule on Thursday, with the slate highlighted by a 10-day stay in Florida as the club prepares for the 2016 USL regular season.

“Going to Florida is a great start to our training,” said Roughnecks Coach David Irving. “Unlike last year, we will not have to be so concerned with the weather, and we will be able to get more work in. It will also be good for team bonding as we will have an extended period away to familiarize ourselves.”

The Roughnecks will arrive in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. on February 26, and open their preseason against Florida Gulf Coast University two days later. The side will then face local club the Miami Fusion on March 1 before heading north to Jacksonville, where it will face a pair of contests against the Jacksonville Armada (March 3) and Miami FC (March 5).

The Roughnecks will then return to Oklahoma, where they will visit the University of Tulsa on March 10 at 7 p.m. CT. After games against Oklahoma Wesleyan University (March 12) and Southern Methodist University (March 16), the side will host its preseason finale against FC Wichita at ONEOK Field at 7 p.m. CT on Saturday, March 19.

“The schedule in Oklahoma will provide a good run of matches to help us continue the preparation for our March 26 opener,” Irving said. “On paper, it is a great preseason for us that gives us the opportunity to get off to a faster start than what we did last year.”

The Roughnecks will host USL expansion side Rio Grande Valley FC in the club’s home opener on Saturday, March 26 at 7 p.m. CT.
