CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Independence bolstered their attacking line on Wednesday with the signing of MLS veteran and former Sacramento Republic FC and Orange County Blues FC forward David Estrada.

“I expect David to have a big impact on our attack,” said Independence Head Coach Mike Jeffries. “He can play anywhere in the front four. In addition to MLS experience and success, he offers creativity and the ability to make plays in front of goal. Equally important is that his commitment, work rate and desire mesh with the Independence profile.”

Estrada had a breakout season in MLS in 2012 as he recorded five goals in 17 appearances for Seattle Sounders FC. Estrada made 50 regular-season appearances overall in MLS between the Sounders and D.C. United, and then recorded three goals and three assists in 18 appearances for Sacramento last season before joining Orange County late in the year, where he recorded another three assists in seven games.

A former standout at UCLA, Estrada earned All-Pac 12 honors in each of his four seasons with the Bruins as he recorded 22 goals and 14 assists for the program.
