PHOENIX – Arizona United SC will host the Mexico U20 National Team for an international exhibition on Sunday, April 17 at the Peoria Sports Complex. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. PT, as United hosts its first contest against international opposition in club history.
“We're excited to play host to El Tri and its legions of faithful followers,” United Head Coach Frank Yallop said. “At a time when Arizona governmental and business leaders are strengthening partnerships with Mexico, we welcome the opportunity to participate in this showcase event with our neighbors. This is a great chance for Valley soccer fans to see some future international stars.”
Mexico’s side will likely include a number of players from the squad that reached the semifinals of the 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup, as the side begins its new cycle ahead of the 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup. Francisco Venegas led the U17 side last year in Chile with three goals, while both Claudio Zamudio and Kevin Magana recorded two goals and two assists for the team.
