WILMINGTON, N.C. – Wilmington Hammerheads FC has announced the signing of Spanish midfielder Josué Currais Prieto for the 2016 USL season.
Currais arrives from the Kerala Blasters FC of the Indian Super League, where he recorded one goal and three assists in 11 appearances during the 2015 season. A former member of FC Barcelona’s La Masia academy, Currais will reunite in Wilmington with former Blasters teammate Bruno Perone, who also recently joined the Hammerheads.
“I'm looking forward to playing with the Wilmington Hammerheads,” said Currais. “I hope to be strong competitors in the season and for the USL title.”

Hammerheads Coach Mark Briggs said he was excited by what Currais will bring to the field for the club’s fans this season.“[Currais] is the creative talent that will make our fans want to come to our games,” said Briggs. “He sees things that other players don’t. Coming up through the Barcelona system, he has had a great upbringing in the game.”
