WILMINGTON, N.C. – Wilmington Hammerheads FC will take on a number of local colleges and fellow USL side the Charleston Battery this preseason after the club unveiled a six-game slate on Monday.
“Our preseason goal is to build a winning mentality,” said Hammerheads Head Coach Mark Briggs. “Preseason is an essential part of the season. It’s all about preparation and making sure every player is finely tuned and ready for the opening game. Games are an important part of a player’s preparation and with the off-season break being so long it is important we get the players back up to full speed.”
The Hammerheads will kick off the preseason against the University of North Carolina in Raleigh, N.C. at the WRAL Soccer Park on February 28 at 3 p.m. ET. Another pair of college contests are set for the following week as the side visits Wingate University on March 2 and Elon University on March 5.
