ST. LOUIS, Mo. – When Saint Louis FC’s players left for the club’s preseason trip to Charleston, renovations were in progress at the World Wide Technology Soccer Park.
After the side returned this week, things are getting very close to where they need to be as the 2016 USL draws near, and the players are excited by what they’re seeing.
“Before we left it was in shambles and it almost looks like brand new; and this new turf, it’s big time,” STL FC defender Sam Fink told FOX2’s Patrick Clark. “It’s awesome to be out here and we can’t thank everyone who was a part of this.”

The stadium field at the club’s facility will be brand new for the new season, after flooding left the complex under water earlier this year. A crowdfunding effort helped raise $86,000 for the effort, which has also helped the club repair outside fields at the complex that were also damaged.
“So of the four turf fields, only one is remaining and that’s over on field three,” Saint Louis General Manager Jeremy Alumbaugh told Clark. “We moved it from the stadium to three. So we have a new field in the stadium, a new field on two, and they’re working on a new field on field five.”
With season tickets sales on the rise, Saint Louis FC’s home opener on April 16 against Tulsa Roughnecks FC promises to be a remarkable night.“A couple of weeks ago, we’re still pretty far away, and the fields were being worked on,” Alumbaugh said. “But it’s something to rally around that the whole club and the whole city of St. Louis has helped bring this place back.”
