HARRISBURG, Pa. – The Harrisburg City Islanders announced the appointment of Roy Mehl as the club’s new President on Monday night. A local business consultant, Mehl has accumulated almost 30 years of experience with small businesses, business analysis and project management in his career.
Mehl most recently worked with the State of Pennsylvania on multiple projects for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, and the Governor’s office of Administration. He replaces Tiago Lopes, whose departure was announced by the City Islanders last week.
“I am very excited to announce Roy as the new President to lead the club as we embark on some major new initiatives with our business plan,” said City Islanders Majority Owner Eric Pettis in a statement.
Mehl has been a resident in the Harrisburg area for the past 25 years, and has become a fixture in the local soccer community over that time. A former player for Lock Haven University, Mehl is a partner in Angelo’s Soccer Corner, and also has coached youth teams in the local area.“Roy brings a business acumen that is critical to our growth and plans to expand our footprint in the community,” Pettis said. “He and I have been teammates and business associates for a long time and he is the right man at the right time to lead the club forward.”
