LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Kadeem Dacres scored the only goal as Louisville City FC took a 1-0 victory against the University of Louisville on Thursday night in a preseason exhibition at Lynn Stadium.
Dacres’ goal came with 11 minutes to go, as he fired home a finish from the corner of the penalty area to break the deadlock. The goal was the winger’s first goal of the preseason, and made it two wins out of two for City.
“Obviously, it’s a great finish,” Louisville City FC Coach James O’Connor said. “It caught the inside of his left foot. It was a really good goal. I’m delighted with the finish. For Kadeem, I’m really pleased. I thought he took his goal really well.”
Louisville held the upper hand on their college opponents for much the game, and recorded 12 shots on goal, but a stout performance by the Cardinals’ defense kept City off the board until Dacres’ finish. O’Connor was pleased with the quantity of chances his side created.

“Once you’re creating chances, that’s important,” O’Connor said. “The chances aren’t something that I think needs work. There’s speed of play, there’s a lot of things that we need to get after. We’ll go back and work, but that’s what preseason’s about.”
For former Cardinals player Paolo DelPiccolo, who joined City this offseason from the Charlotte Independence, getting to play at the recently opened Lynn Stadium was an enjoyable experience.
“It was fun … This was the first time I’ve played here,” DelPiccolo said. “When I was here, we were at Cardinals Park. So it was fun doing that, it was fun seeing some of the same people and seeing coach again. It was a great experience to be back.”
Louisville will continue its preseason on Wednesday night as it visits the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Ky.
