ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The City of Rochester tonight approved a lease that will see the Rochester Rhinos continue to compete at Sahlen’s Stadium for the 2016 USL season, and beyond. The motion was passed unopposed. The decision clears the path for local residents David and Wendy Dworkin to complete the purchase of the club and become the newest ownership group in the USL.
As part of the agreement, the Dworkin family has agreed to make a significant investment to upgrade both the playing surface and overall facility at Sahlen’s Stadium.
“We welcome tonight’s decision by the City of Rochester,” said David Dworkin. “As proud residents of Rochester for more than two decades, Wendy and I are looking forward to completing the final step of this process, and leading the Rochester Rhinos into a bright future.”David and Wendy Dworkin are minority owners in the NBA’s Sacramento Kings, and the principal owners of LLD Enterprises, a local, Rochester-based property development, management and brokerage company. Upon completion of their purchase of the Rhinos, they will become the third members of an NBA ownership group to purchase a USL franchise in the past year.
