IRVINE, Calif. – Orange County Blues FC has re-signed standout defender Brenton Griffiths for the upcoming USL season.
A 2015 USL All-League Second Team selection in his first full season with the Blues, Griffiths was one of the anchors as the club finished the season at the top of the Western Conference standings. Griffiths made 26 starts and logged more than 2,200 minutes of action as the Blues set a club record with eight shutouts.
“I am really excited that I have gotten the opportunity to re-sign with this amazing organization,” said Griffiths. “It brings me joy to know that I will be continuing my growth as a player in Orange County with an amazing coaching staff and a great group of players.”

A former standout for the University of South Florida, Griffiths was selected in the 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft by the Colorado Rapids. He made one MLS appearance before joining the Blues late in 2014, where he quickly became a mainstay in the club’s back line.“Brenton had a fantastic season last year and was rightly recognized by the USL for his outstanding performances,” said Head Coach and General Manager Oliver Wyss. “It is important for the club to keep hold of this high quality player and we are delighted Brenton has decided to stay with us. We are looking forward to another successful year with him on board.”
