COLORADO SPRING, Colo. – A goal early in the second half by Nate Robinson gave Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC a 2-1 victory against Air Force on Saturday at Cadet Soccer Stadium for its second win in as many games this preseason.
Robinson, the 2013 USL Rookie of the Year with the Richmond Kickers, scored eight minutes after the break as he fired a low shot from outside the penalty area into the bottom corner of the net. The Switchbacks then held onto the lead late as new goalkeeper Billy Thompson made a pair of late saves to preserve the win.

Another former colleague of Thompson’s with Orange County Blues FC who made the offseason move to the Switchbacks, Josh Suggs, gave his new side the lead in the fourth minute. Air Force hit back seven minutes later, however, as the Falcons took advantage of a corner kick following a save by Devala Gorrick to level the score.Colorado Springs looked to regain the lead before the end of the first half, as first Rony Argueta had a shot go over the crossbar, and then Aaron King had a shot cleared off the line by the Falcons. Saeed Robinson also went close in the 43rd minute as his shot hit the post and went out for a goal kick, but Nate Robinson’s finish restored the Switchbacks’ advantage, and held as the game-winner.
