COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC has announced the re-signing of midfielder Kevin Durr for the 2016 USL season.

Durr is a former member of the Air Force Academy who appeared in 11 contests in the 2015 USL Season while completing his commitment to the Air Force. A 1st Lieutenant, Durr is stationed at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, which allowed him to pursue a professional soccer career with the Switchbacks.

“I’m very excited to be part of the Switchbacks for a second year,” Durr said. “I look forward to the upcoming season and hope to contribute to the success of the team as much as possible.”

Durr grew up in Germany, where he was part of the Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern Munich and FC Garmisch-Partenkirchen academy systems before moving to the U.S. and competing with Air Force. Durr made 78 appearances for the Falcons and recorded 18 goals and 18 assists in his college career, and was a first-round selection of Seattle Sounders FC in the 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft.

Now, thanks to the Switchbacks, Durr is able to maintain his military commitment while also pursing his professional soccer goals.

“We are glad that Kevin is coming back for our second season,” said Switchbacks Coach Steve Trittschuh. “Everyone knows his story being in the Air Force and we expect him to help the team just like he did last season.”
