COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced on Wednesday it had re-signed Colorado native Davy Armstrong for the upcoming USL season.

Armstrong was the first Homegrown Player signing in Colorado Rapids history, and joined the Switchbacks for the club’s inaugural season after having previously played in the USL on loan with Phoenix FC. Armstrong made 23 regular-season appearances for Colorado Springs in 2015, and recorded two assists.

“I’m blessed to have another year to play professional soccer,” Armstrong said. “I love to improve as a player and a person through this experience and I hope we can have another great year but this time bring home the cup.”

The 24-year-old holding midfielder was a standout in the youth ranks, earning the 2008 Denver Post All-Colorado Player of the Year award, while also earning All-Colorado honors in three consecutive seasons from 2007-09.
