OKLAHOMA CITY – OKC Energy FC added another piece to its midfield on Monday as the club signed Evans Frimpong for the 2016 USL season.
“Evans is a dynamic, attacking player who comes with a load of quality experience. His pace on the flanks makes him a threat at any level,” said Energy FC General Manager Jason Hawkins. “His abilities will add another dimension to our already potent attack.”

Frimpong was a standout in the PDL for Reading United AC, and helped the side claim the 2010 Eastern Conference Championship. He was selected by the Chicago Fire in the First Round of the MLS Supplemental Draft in 2012, but turned professional with the Tampa Bay Rowdies, with whom he claimed the 2012 NASL Championship. Frimpong made 69 appearances for the Rowdies over three seasons.The 26-year-old native of Ghana played for the Fort Lauderdale Strikers in 2015, as he made 12 appearances and recorded one assist. He will now join an Energy FC side that reached the Western Conference Final of the 2015 USL Playoffs.
