RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond Kickers announced on Thursday the club has re-signed homegrown midfielder Nate Shiffman for the 2016 USL season.

“Nate will provide quality depth in several positions and also brings plenty of USL game experience,” said Kickers Head Coach and Director of Soccer Leigh Cowlishaw. “We are delighted he is returning and expect him to compete for a place in the starting 11.”

Shiffman made 13 appearances for the Kickers in 2015, including 11 in the USL regular season. Shiffman scored his first goal for the Kickers in the club’s exhibition against West Bromwich Albion, and also found the net in the league against the New York Red Bulls II.

The 24-year-old had previously played for OKC Energy FC, where he recorded 22 appearances, one goal and one assist in his rookie season. A native of Richmond, Shiffman played collegiately for Virginia Commonwealth University, where he made more than 70 appearances for the Rams and earned Atlantic 10 All-Tournament honors in his senior season.
