RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond Kickers have announced the signing of a pair of Brazilian strikers for the new USL season, as Luiz Fernando Nascimento and Romulo Peretta joined the club from Corinthians S.C.

“Our November trip to São Paulo to visit the legendary S.C. Corinthians proved extremely beneficial,” said Leigh Cowlishaw, Richmond Kickers Director of Soccer. “We are delighted to sign Luiz Fernando and Romulo. They are young, dynamic attacking players who will excite and entertain the Kickers fans immensely. They are still teenagers who speak limited English so we will have to be patient, but they are no doubt players to watch for the future.”

Nascimento is a product of Corinthians’ Youth Academy, and the 18-year-old has competed for the club’s U20 team. In addition, both he and the 19-year-old Peretta recently represented AA Flamengo in Brazil’s Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior 2016, a prestigious national youth tournament, where Nascimento scored the game-winner in Flamengo’s 2-1 win against Santo Andre in the group stage.

The players also helped AA Flamengo reach the semifinals of the U20 Campeonato Paulista, a state competition in Sao Paulo, where they were eliminated by eventual champion Corinthians.
