IRVINE, Calif. – Having been invited to join Toronto FC for its preseason visit to California, Toronto FC II standouts Mo Babouli and Luca Uccello are making the most of their opportunity.
Both players have shown positive signs in the club’s exhibition contests this week, with Uccello and Babouli both finding the net in a 4-0 win against Cal State Fullerton, while Babouli provided an excellent assist for Jordan Hamilton in a 3-0 win against the PDL’s Ventura County Fusion.

Babouli showed flashes of his potential in the USL last season after claiming MVP honors in League1 Ontario in 2014, and is considered a strong prospect to join the club’s MLS side in the near future. For his part, the 23-year-old is trying to learn as much as he can, and gain an understanding with TFC’s core players, should the opportunity arise to make the move.
“I’m trying to soak it up and try to understand the structure laid out by the coaching staff as much as I can so when whatever happens, whether I remain with the first team or head back to TFC II, I have a full understanding and I can help other people with their roles as well,” Babouli told TorontoFC.ca’s Anthony Campos.

Babouli (20 games) and Uccello (22 games) both made an impact for TFC II a season ago. The 18-year-old Uccello, another full season with Jason Bent’s side is in the offing, and he’s eager to learn from the veterans around him in California so he can take those lessons and apply them to his second professional season.
“When you’re a young player and you’re trying to excel, they’re always supportive,” Uccello told Campos. “It’s important for a young player, especially myself being 18 years old to just listen to what they have to say and sort of adapt to their playing style and let them help me.”With the performances both have put in so far this preseason, both are looking like players to watch when the 2016 USL season kicks off.
