Five Toronto FC II players have been called up by Canada U20 National Team Coach Rob Gale for a 10-day training camp in Mexico from November 9-18. The camp will feature a pair of games against Mexico’s U20 National Team as the new cycle begins for the 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup in South Korea.

“It is important for this group to face opponents and experience conditions in CONCACAF, so there is no greater test than facing Mexico in Mexico at this stage,” said Gale in a press release. “As a group, we will be developing our in-game tactics to both defend specific opponents as well as exploit their potential weaknesses.”

Leading the TFC II group is midfielder Luca Uccello, who made 22 appearances and logged 1,458 minutes of action this past season. Uccello also recorded his first professional goal and an assist for Jason Bent’s side.

Also included in the squad are defenders Gabriel Boakye, who recorded 579 minutes in nine games, and Marcus Godinho, who played in seven contests for the side. Goalkeeper Fillipo Di Bennardo and midfielder Tristan Borges are also included, as is Academy defender Mateo Restrepo, who made one appearance for TFC II this past season.

Joining the group is the Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2’s Kadin Chung, who made a pair of appearances for WFC2 after turning professional out of the Whitecaps Academy late in the 2015 season.
