SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sacramento Republic FC announced on Wednesday the signing of 2016 MLS SuperDraft selection Chase Minter for the 2016 USL season.

A former standout for the Ventura County Fusion in the PDL, Minter was selected with the 21st overall pick of the SuperDraft by Columbus Crew SC in January. Also a standout for Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Minter will provide a wide threat for Republic FC as he starts his rookie season.

“We are delighted to bring in Chase, a player we found at Cal Poly while scouting the college system,” said Republic FC Head Coach and Technical Director Paul Buckle. “He is a player that can play two or three positions, but mainly as a left winger. He is full of energy, has an incredible work rate, but is also very comfortable on the ball.”

Minter made 17 appearances for the Fusion over two seasons with the club, and becomes the latest player to join Republic FC after playing in Ventura County to join the likes of current players Danny Barrera, James Kiffe and Alfonso Motagalvan.

Minter was also a key player for Cal Poly San Luis Obispo during his college career as well, making 77 appearances for the side over four seasons as he recorded 16 goals and 21 assists. Minter led Cal Poly in goals and assists in each of the past two seasons.
