SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sacramento Republic FC announced the signing of young English forward Harry Williams for the 2016 USL season on Wednesday.
“Harry is a young player that fits into our development group,” said Republic FC Head Coach and Technical Director Paul Buckle. “Already, he has proven that he is capable of playing at our level. He holds the ball up very well and he can finish. He is a very good prospect for our club.”
Williams joined Sacramento after most recently competing for Cheltenham Town in the English National League. The 20-year-old came through the club’s academy, and made 14 appearances for the club after turning professional in 2013.

Williams also spent time on loan with Farnborough Town, where he recorded 10 goals in 17 appearances, and Gloucester City AFC, where he scored seven goals in 16 games across two different spells with the club. He also scored five goals in 11 games for Evesham United FC in a separate loan spell.Republic FC continues its preseason preparations on Wednesday as it faces Sacramento State University at 3 p.m. PT at Hornet Field. Sacramento opens the 2016 USL regular season on Friday, March 25 as it visits Seattle Sounders FC 2 at 7:30 p.m. PT at Starfire Stadium.
