SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio FC has announced the signing of midfielder Sebastien Thuriere and forward Shawn Chin for the club’s inaugural season in the USL.
Thuriere has been a veteran of the USL, most recently playing for the Charleston Battery last season. A member of the Haiti National Team, for which he has made 19 appearances, Thuriere has played more than 60 games in the USL over the past three seasons.
“This will be an absolutely great experience to be a part of a club with so much behind it,” said Thuriere. “I’ve been playing in the USL for a few years, and to be starting off on this note with the great group of players, coaching staff and backing of Spurs Sports & Entertainment, gives this group a great chance to excel.”

Chin played alongside Thuriere for the University of South Florida before turning professional. Over the past two seasons with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers, Chin scored three goals and added eight assists. He also previously played for FC Edmonton and Minnesota United FC.
“I am excited to be a part of this new club and this new journey,” said Chin. “The goal is to win a championship for the city of San Antonio, and I will work every day with the team to help make that happen.”
San Antonio FC Head Coach Darren Powell said he was looking forward to welcoming both players into the squad.
“Sebastien is an international player who has really good experience within the USL,” said Powell. “We see him fitting in as a central midfielder in the squad. He is hungry to perform well here and for his national team, so we expect good things from him this season.“Shawn is an exciting player. He has good pace and good speed and he loves to get beyond defenders. We expect him to fit our system in several different positions across the front line this season, and we are looking forward to working with him. He is an exciting, dynamic attacking player.”
