HOUSTON – Rio Grande Valley FC announced on Friday the signing of midfielder Memo Rodriguez and defender Taylor Hunter for the 2016 USL season.

“Both players are highly dedicated individuals that understand what’s involved in the process to develop as a professional player,” Houston Dynamo VP/general manager Matt Jordan said. “This is another important example of how the Houston Dynamo is evolving as a club with vertical integration between our First Team, RGVFC and Academy. Both players will be monitored closely by our First Team staff.”

Rodriguez had previously been with the Dynamo as a Homegrown signing, and spent much of the 2015 season on loan with the club’s former partner, the Charleston Battery. Rodriguez made 17 appearances for the Battery, and recorded one goal and one assist. He also appeared in the 2015 Chipotle Homegrown Game at the MLS All-Star Game.

Hunter also spent time on loan in the USL in 2015 with Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. Hunter made 14 appearances for the Switchbacks, all starts, and scored one goal. The full back had previously played for the University of Denver prior to turning professional.

The Toros will kick off their inaugural season in the USL on Saturday, March 26 when they visit Tulsa Roughnecks FC. The club’s home opener is set for Saturday, April 30 against the LA Galaxy II.
