COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced on Monday it had signed former University of Denver goalkeeper Dan Jackson for the upcoming USL season.

“Dan is the first player we have signed from University of Denver,” said Switchbacks Head Coach Steve Trittschuh. “The team and Dan had a fantastic college season in 2015 and I was able to see Dan play a few times. He showed in pre-season training that he is ready for the USL level and he will add great depth to our goalkeepers.”

Jackson had a standout season for the Pioneers last fall, as he finished third in the nation in goals-against average (0.401 GAA), 10th in save percentage (.833) and recorded 12 shutouts in 19 contests. Jackson claimed the Summit League’s Goalkeeper of the Year award, and also the conference’s Tournament MVP honors as the Pioneers recorded back-to-back shutouts to claim the Summit League Championship.

“I am extremely humbled to join this group and to represent Colorado Springs and the Switchbacks organization,” said Jackson. “The staff and players have been very welcoming and have helped make the transition to the professional game a thrilling experience. I look forward to pushing the group to new heights, creating history and ultimately working towards bringing a USL title back to our fans.”
