OKLAHOMA CITY – OKC Energy FC has announced the signing of Dutch forward Tim Janssen for the upcoming USL season.
The 29-year-old previously spent his entire career in Europe, most recently competing for Fortuna Sittard in the Dutch Eerste Divisie. Janssen has also previously played for FC Midtjylland and Esbjerg fB, where he first came to the attention of Energy FC Coach Jimmy Nielsen.
“Tim is a player I played against myself, back in Denmark, and he did a fantastic job there,” Nielsen said. “He was unlucky with injuries, but if we can get him back on track and he can stay healthy, he will be a very valuable player for the team. We’re excited to have him.”

The 6-foot-2 forward will add to an Energy FC attack that is also returning Danni König, Casey Townsend and Sebastian Dalgaard from a strong 2015 season. Janssen said he was looking forward to the experience of competing outside Europe for the first time.
“I’m happy to be here. I’m looking forward to being able to play and to perform with the team,” Janssen said. “I hope I will do as expected, and I hope I can make a difference and help the team to achieve a higher level.”Energy FC hosts MLS partner FC Dallas this Saturday night at Taft Stadium in a preseason exhibition as it continues its preparations for the 2016 USL season.
